Born September 12, 2004 in Mokpo, South Korea

Thanks for visiting Kyle's webpage! It has been provided to keep our loved ones updated on our trip to Seoul to bring Kyle home to his forever family.

We are home! As you can see, we are all on Korea time. We are downstairs watching 101 Dalmations!

Kyle was a dream baby on the flight home; we had bulkhead seats and a bassinet for him and he slept the majority of the trip. When he wasn't sleeping, he was eating and talking baby-talk with his Daddy. We missed our connection in Chicago due to really just not having enough time between flights to go through Immigration and Customs. Thankfully, we were all able to get on the next flight home.

Great Grandma and Grampa-Grampa were waiting for us in Grand Rapids, along with two families who have been down this road before - Bekah, Katie, and Daniel, and Renee, Becca, Ali, and Noah! LOTS of CUTE kids waiting to see Kyle! It was also our special surprise to have Pastor Ed and Fred and Mary Visser there as well! We were very touched by these caring gestures from all of you (and can't believe you waited around after we missed our flight)! Thank you for the gifts, the help with luggage, and transportation, and all the hugs!

We returned home to a nice clean house, complete with flowers and balloons, a beautiful new rocking chair, and some great toys, MANY thanks to Grandma Schroeder! Also, we loved the Welcome Home note on our kitchen window from our small group! Thank you!!

In my last entry, I mentioned that there were a couple of (more) things I wanted to tell you about. The day we went to Holt to receive Kyle, the nurse who had helped with his care came over to us excitedly and gave us a scroll, which she unrolled to reveal some beautiful Hangul writing. We were able to learn that her friend had written it on Korean hand-made paper especially for us, but we couldn't understand what she was trying to tell us was written on it. About ten minutes later, she came back and handed me an internet printout of the Twenty-third Psalm. She pointed to that, then pointed to the scroll. It is such a beautiful gift! We actually left it in Korea to be framed, and our friends will bring it home this summer. Then, when the social worker/interpreter arrived, she gave me a copy of a Korean Hymnal page with the song 'Jesus Loves Me'. Under the verses, she had written how to pronounce them in Korean. We also thought that was a beautiful gift which will always remind us of Mrs. Kim (foster mother) and Jaylen singing that song together in two different languages.

The other thing which I haven't really shared is the love we experienced from our friends Lee and Robin, and their family and their adjimonie Mrs. Na. Lee and Robin arranged for Kendall and myself and Jaylen to stay in a nice apartment in their building (and invited Mom and Beth to stay with them). They provided everything we needed to live down there for the week. They suggested sights we might like to see and places to shop and eat and then made ALL of the arrangements necessary to do all of those things including attending performances with us, taking us on the subway, driving us around Seoul, drawing maps, basically holding our hands the entire time and just every conceivable thing we needed, they provided! They and their children welcomed us into their home, cooked wonderful meals, played with Jaylen....I simply can't tell you all they did for us and I certainly can't describe our gratitude for all of it. All of this will be forever remembered and appreciated more than words can say.

We are so thankful for all of our friends, family and co-workers...each of you has given something to make this journey possible and bearable! Your inquiries about how everything was progressing, your many words of encouragement, and your excitement are wonderful blessings! One of the last things we told Mrs. Kim was that Kyle had a wonderful family, church family and lots of friends waiting for him...it was the reasurrance she (and we) needed to be able to say 'Good-bye'...

Love,

Kendall & Amy
