Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope."

Proverbs 15:13

Welcome to Jordan's Web Page!

Thanks so much for stopping by to pay us a visit today. I pray you will be encouraged, and share the hope we have found after reading about all the wonderful things the Lord has been doing in Jordan's life and so many of his friends.

In the book of 1Thessalonians 5:16-18 the Bible says: "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

In April of 2002, we received the news that would change the course of our lives forever. Jordan was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This was the beginning of a journey we could never have dreamed we would be taking. And yet, the amazing love of God was revealed to us in greater ways than we could have ever imagined. All along this winding path, we have been joined by so many new friends, which we could never have known otherwise. We have witnessed so many miracles, shared joys and tears, good times and hard times, but through them all have found that God is truly the Rock upon which we stand. And now, four years later, Jordan is on the road to becoming a brain tumor survivor!

Jordan has a "Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma" (JPA) located in the optic chiasm and hypothalamic region, with some spread into the brainstem and third ventricle. Because of the location of this tumor, Jordan has many Endocrine deficits. Some of the issues we deal with as a result of this are, Growth Hormone Deficiency, hypothyroid, Diabetes Insipidus (regulation of thrist) and Osteoporosis (loss of the normal density of bone and fragile bone). Jordan developed hearing loss after radiation. After biopsy surgery was performed at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Jordan's tumor was determined to be inoperable due to the surrounding structures in this region of his brain. Last year Jordan had to receive 30 external radiation treatments at St. Jude Childrens Hospital to stop the slow progression the lesion had continuing to show. The initial post-radiation reports have indicated that the tumor is beginning to shrink. We now believe that these positive results will continue, and the tumor will eventually die and Jordan will be totally healed.

I would to like thank all of our family and friends that have provided so much support to us through the years, and to all of our new CB family that pray and offer support to Jordan on a daily basis. I've once read that Courage can be defined as: spirit, determination, and bravery. But have you ever wondered what Courage looks like? I think that the children we have met in this battle epitomize the true picture of that word. They are the real heros that we honor in this war.

"So be strong and take courage, all you who put your hope in the Lord" Ps. 31:34

Greeting my precious friends,

We recently has a big scare with Jordan. He start complaining his legs, bones and muscles hurt all over. I immediately called his doctor here at home. She sent us strait to the hospital to run all kinds of tests.

After sweating out a day or so, most of his labs looked good. A huge sigh of RELIEF!!!

Jordan however, continued to be in a lot of pain so we were sent to another doctor. More blood was done. As the days went on his muscles began to swell really big. The doctors have never seen this before.

They believe Jordan has, (I'll just clip and paste this for you!)

Myositis (my-OH-sigh-tiss) is a rare disease in which the immune system chronically inflames the body's own healthy muscle tissue. Persistent inflammation progressively weakens the muscles.

This is a very challenging to diagnose and to treat. There are many different types. We will watch him for a few days, and if there is no change, they will do a muscle biopsy to confirm this.

I really don't want to write about all the what "if's" now, I'm just going to believe whatever this is, God is going to HEAL HIM!

I would so appreciate you prayers at this time. Jordan is in pain, it just breaks my heart.

God has been so faithful to take good care of him.

Thanks for stopping by. I'll keep you updated if anything changes.

Love,

Susan

We're Back Home!

Thanks so much for all of your prayers and many words of encouragement. Jordan got another clean bill of health. His scans showed,
"no progression of disease"!
Can you say, AMEN? Yeah!!! Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As always, being at St. Jude is like visiting home after you have been away for a long time. We were so blessed to see some of our friends, and meet several new ones while we were there. My hubby drove up to meet us this time, and it was so great to have him along with us. We all go to spend a little R&R time away from the pressures back home.

On Sunday, we went out to the “ Hope House” and had dessert with Mark and Mylissa from Habitat for Hope. Then on Monday night, we caught up with Dawn and Mason and had a wonderful dinner together. We really look forward to visiting with them every time we go back!

I'd like to ask for prayer for two families that have become very dear to our hearts during this past year. One is a precious little girl named Elizabeth with AML. Elizabeth is from our hometown and we have known her family for a long time. We visited with Elizabeth, her mom, and grandmother on Tuesday afternoon. They were staying on the same floor and only four rooms down from us at the Grizzly House. Please pray for this precious little child. She is really in a battle right now. You can visit her at this site.

Another new family we met was a young boy named Trevor . He is 16 and also battling AML. Trevor lives close to us here in Baton Rouge. Just in case you don't know, AML is a very aggressive form of leukemia. These two great families love the Lord and believe that God will send them a miracle healing for their children.

Something really neat happened while we were St. Jude this time. Jordan's neurologist asked if we would be interested in placing him in a study for post-rad children with movement/sleep disorders. So, on our next visit, he will do a two-day sleep study at the hospital. We've been praying for an answer to this problem, and hopefully we'll get to the bottom of it soon. Image hosting by TinyPic

Finally, a real highlight for Jordan was getting to meet Bishop Eddie Long who came and spoke at a minister's meeting at the hospital while we were there. He is the pastor a very large church in the Atlanta area, and has worldwide television show. Jordan was just beaming when he personally got the chance to meet him, and of course, I captured the moment with this picture of them.

Jordan also got to go to the Redbird’s Baseball game with a new family he met! Jordan never passes up an opportunity to have fun. Here he is with the mascot!
