Monday, May 14, 2007 7:06 PM CDT Chemo is finally over. No more shots, 6mp, and no more of that yuck stuff. No more feeling terrible and no more felling sick about being sick. No more loosing hair and no low immune system. It is finally all over.
The weekend I was diagnosed with Leukemia it was our moving day. We were moving into our new house when we got the call from my doctor asking us to come back to the hospital. The past couple years I have gone through many medical challenges but only one other unplanned oncology hospital visit because I had a fever. Most patients have at least 3 fever visits a year but I was lucky only to get one in two years.
Even today I enjoy visiting Children’s Mercy to say hi to some friends/nurses that I made during my visits. The coolest trip to the hospital was when I was on the Children’s Miracle Radio Network. I know some of you made a donation. Thanks a lot!
The Dream Factory also played a big role in my experiences. I traveled on a seven night Disney Cruise. How cool is that? The cruise stopped in Cabo San Lucas, Porta Vallarta, and Mazatlan. It was really fun!!
I lost my hair a few times, but I was never completely bald; I always had a few strands of hair that just happened to stick around. Now I have curly hair, before I had stick strait hair. I hated it and now I love my hair. Before I always wanted to use the shampoo that was for people with curly hair and now I can.
I have many to thank for helping me get through this; God, Mom, Dad, my family, teachers, CMH nurses (especially Cathy Burks, Nurse Teresa), CMH doctors (especially Dr. Woods, the surgeons who put in and took out my port), and last but definitely not least my friends. I only named a few people and I have many others to thank. So, thank you and God Bless You!!!!! Carrie Hudson
