Sunday, January 28, 2007 6:58 PM CST A day at a time . . .
Today is the 2nd Anniversary of Kyle going Home to Heaven . . .
Two years ago we sayed our good-byes . . . told Kyle it was time to go Home to Heaven . . . how much we loved him and always will . . . Kelvin & I placed our hands over his heart and felt his last heartbeat . . . then heard & saw the monitor as it flatlined.
There are no instructions on how to handle a day like today. You just do what is right for you and your family to honor your loved one.
To honor Kyle's memory Karissa served dinner on orange paper plates with orange napkins . . . Kyle's favorite color. A special meal was cooked with Karissa saying the Blessing. As always, it goes like this: May God bless our food, I hope that Kyle is having fun in Heaven, and that everyone enjoys our dinner.
Each night a candle burns at dinner time . . . it represents Kyle. And lets Kyle know that he has not been forgotten. There is an old saying that a lighted candle will help our loved ones that passed over find us.
Today Karissa & I picked out our balloons . . . the lady said that she was surprised - because they never have orange stars. So we picked out 3 red & 3 orange stars. To represent Kyle being a 'star' in Heaven now. Wrote our messages to Kyle . . . praying that 'All things our possible thru God' and asked that the Angels deliver our balloons to Kyle.
I should've wrote down what Karissa wrote to her big brother . . . She asked Kyle if there was school in Heaven . . . and if he was learning more about Jesus & God. She asked about the streets of gold . . . and if he was taking care of my dog, Mako. She wrote about how much she still misses him . . . and looks forward to seeing him again in Heaven.
At 5:40pm . . . when Kyle's heart beat for the last time . . . we gathered in our backyard . . . waited for the wind to calm down . . . then released one balloon. It flew into one tree . . . somehow was released . . . flew into another large tree . . . looked tangled. Somehow it was released into the sky. We waited for the wind to calm down and relased the rest of our balloons . . . and watched them rise up into the sky floating in the SE direction. Then to our surprise we watched on old WWII restored plane fly underneath our balloons! Which made us all smile - because Kyle loved those old military planes. Kyle has a collection of them in our 'playroom' in the attic. The time of the old WWII restored plane & balloons was perfect . . . and touched our hearts.
To night is a night of memories . . . of a special little boy that is still touching hearts. The book of his life has not ended . . . it still continues . . . on Earth and in Heaven.
Thank-you for your prayers and wishes . . . as we try to live on with Kyle in our hearts!
With love & best wishes from Florida, Mary-Ellen
