Saturday, July 5, 2008 7:52 PM CDT We went up to Cincinnati, a special thanks to Dr. Rob Fischer and his wife Dee for donating the plane tickets, and Johanna received an extensive physical. She had an EKG/Echo scan, saw the dentist, a hand-bone scan, had a screening with Dr. Rose- endocrinology, exam by the teen health doctor, and of course an appointment with Dr. Harris to finish up with her immunizations. We had trouble here in Florida finding a doctor who could give her the immunization that Dr. Harris recommended.
Her pediatrician told me to see the Health Department for the HPV vaccine, because they didn't give that vaccine in their office....so I switched her pediatrician again. Her current pediatrician, Dr. Johanne Dunn, does give the HPV vaccine in her office. It's been a long process but I believe we have found the doctor who will follow Johanna closely and is in good hands.
The test results from Cincinnati showed that Johanna's thyroid is not working properly and she has to take Levothyroxin 75mcg.- daily. Also, the teen health doctor found the labia started to fuse together causing her a major problem with eliminating urine. The doctor said it might be due to the estrogen levels which were not high enough. I am so glad we went up to Cincinnati because she spends about 20 minutes in the bathroom each time and takes two showers a day. This is a personal matter but the reason I mentioned this is if you have a girl you might want to keep an eye on the fact that this can happen. Also, because of the results of the hand-bone scan she needs to take a vitamin D-with Calcium tablet daily.
Next step in the process is the HPV vaccine. We should be starting this July 21.
