Joshua's Journey............ cancer SURVIVOR!!!

This is the journey of a remarkable little boy who continues to amaze all who know him!!! For those who are new to the website, you can read our whole story in the journal. I have moved it because it took up so much precious space. Joshua finished his chemo for relapsed Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in November, 2007. He is still currently having seizures and was diagnosed with epilepsy and a mild form of autism. Joshua is starting grade 1 in September, 2008. This is our story, with all the honor and credit going to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We continue to appreciate all those who have entered our lives through this illness, and are thankful for all your continued prayers, which are very needed. I hope you enjoy the music, and please leave a message in the guestbook. We love to know who is sharing this journey with us.

God bless, Naomi

If any of you are new to this site and want to hear about Joshua's wish from the Children's wish foundation, you can go back in the June journal entry. He got a WONDERFUL play structure that was built by the Winkler police and friends. Thank you to everyone who participated!!

Joshua took his last chemo pill on November 19, 2007. We are currently on the "off treatment" couch. We, as a family are very blessed to have reached this point. Thanks be to God.... "Normal", as we know it will now change.

Okay... so most of you know where I stand when it comes to spirituality. I have never doubted that Joshua sees angels because of things that he has said and done over the past 5 years. I want to tell you a little story about our happenings yesterday.

It was a regular day. I had to pick Josh up from school to be at an appointment where they determine his level of autism. He did extremely well... so well that I thought that I had the wrong child along. He didn't throw himself to the floor... he didn't act out... he didn't throw toys... he was just really calm. I was in disbelief... to be quite honest. I couldn't figure out what was "wrong" with him. LOL This was totally out of character. He's been known to be a bit of a live wire. Anyway, we left the appointment, and he is walking beside me... holding my hand nicely. He NEVER walks beside me. He is usually a few feet ahead with his arm stretched out, with my arm also stretched out holding onto his wrist... but not yesterday. He usually bends down to try to pick up everything from stones to cigarette butts... but not yesterday. He usually throws himself down to the ground at least twice with a total and complete meltdown... but not yesterday. We get to the intersection, (which I never use... we usually cross anywhere on the street) and the light turns green. We have walked about halfway through the intersection... as this truck goes flying through the red light. My heart nearly stopped.. but everyone was okay. Had Josh been his "normal" self, he would have been hit by that driver. Josh didn't even hardly notice the truck... and as soon as it had happened... I got the old Josh back. The minute we hit the sidewalk, he started figeting... bending down to pick things up off the ground... having meltdowns... etc. This whole time... he was humming something. He is not fully verbal, so we have a hard time figuring him out sometimes. I take him into a store.. and he is still humming. SO... I started humming with him to try to get the tune... and he starts singing "Angels watching over me". This is a song he listens to OFTEN and has it memorized. I immediately got goose bumps.

ANGELS were and ARE definitely watching over him. He's only 6, but has quite the testimony already. The only thing is... he can't share it... so it's up to me! Glad I could share it with all of you.

God bless, Naomi
