Colton Chase is the adorable son of Laura, and brother of Bronson. He is facing blindness from a rare and incurable eye disease, retinitis pigmentosa. Please feel free to drop us a line!
The entire Nascar family is coming out in force to help Colton, and helping to bring awareness to this rare and incurable disease. We are grateful first and foremost to Jeff Gordon and Dupont, who first took an interest in Colton and contacted me at home on that day in 2001. We are also grateful to Dale Earnhardt. Jr., for adding Colton's foundation to the Jr. Pit Charity. We are VERY grateful to the wonderful Jason Jarrett, for adding my son to his official website and charity. We would also like to thank Werbe Team Racing, as well as Kevin Harvick Racing, for befriending my son. We are thankful to the support of Darrell Basham and all the ARCA racers who are starting to carry the Foundation Fighting Blindness on their cars- and in their hearts. Saturday, July 4, 2009 0:21 AM CDT Happy Fourth Of July! The kids and I went to our local celebration earlier this evening. A friend of mine brought her two young children as well. The kids ate nachos while we watched the fireworks. For a small town they put on a great show! Tomorrow evening I'll probably buy the kids some sparklers to shoot off outside. Colton has a "bullet hole" on his forehead where Dov shot him with an airsoft gun yesterday. Luckily Colton was wearing goggles. Their friend is in big trouble over that one!
I was able to dump "seroquel" out of my regime today. Seroquel is a heavy duty psych drug they gave me for insomnia. It worked so great I could barely wake up and get out of bed on some days. Now I'm down to 3 meds. My goal is to snap out of this and be my cheery self once again. Feeling negative and depressed won't bring my sister back. Nothing will. In the Bible it says we will know one another in the next life. I'm sure I'll see her again one day.
The weather is supposed to cool down to the 80's or 90's next week. That would be nice. We hate the hot weather! Anyhow, the kids and I wish you all a happy and safe holiday! Remember all those who continue to fight for our country. Love, Laura
