Hi Hayleigh!

I have HHT, too. While the daily nosebleeds are socially embarassing, this disease has made me a smarter consumer of medical care! I have a better outlook on what really matters and what doesn't. Of course I'm middle-aged and have over four decades of life experience. I've gotten to have brain surgery (not so bad, just a lousy haircut!) and lung surgery (why people smoke tobacco I will never know. Lung surgery just plain stinks and hurts) and get to see my hemotologist every other week.

Keep your chin up. We're all in this together. Your history is not your destiny.

The mental battle to keep going, keeping one foot in front of the other, is the biggie.

Hi I am so glad I found this site. I have two sons with OI (brittle bone condtion type 1) and now are going through more health problems borderline diabetes and more. PCH is doing some testing now for HHT, it's on my ex husbands side. I am lost and new to this HHT but knowing a lil more from what you say on here is helpful. You look so pretty in all of your colorful pictures. I'm glad that you have so much fun! My mother, myself & my daughter have nosebleeds, and we just found out the name for this condition. My mom's stomach sometimes bled also. My daughter, Nanette, was having some really bad nosebleeds that were hard to stop. She's all grown up (22) and lives 2 1/2 hours away in an apartment by herself (well, she does have two kitties - Samuel & Kenny) while she works on her Ph.D. in physiology. We began to worry a little more about her and took her back to the Dr. who did her tonsillectomy a few years ago. He's the one who identified the cause of the family nosebleeds. Anyway, that Dr. just did something called coblation on one side of Nanette's nose. He said that it will stop the nosebleeds indefinately. She does need to go back and have the other side done in a month or so. We are very hopeful that this will produce good results. Have you heard of this?

We also homeschool our 2 oldest children (ages 10 & 8). It is a blast here in our home. Quite hectic at time since our youngest has severe developmental delays and a lot of time is spent on therapies. Be patient and consistent with homeschooling. It takes time to adjust!

This was my first visit to Haleighbug's site. What beautiful children you have!!! I can't imagine being told to go on strict bedrest with 3 kids and sick ones at that!!! I could barely keep up and I didn't have to go on bedrest when I was pregnant. I will pray that your newest one hangs on a bit longer though before greeting the world. If I may be so bold, would your doctor want to put you on a prophylactic antibiotic to prevent a strep infection especially since you are dealing with a potential delivery in the near future. Just a thought. I wouldn't want to be sick at my delivery! LOL

A baby girl!! Congratulations!! (I told Sydnie, and she said "jeez, all these babies. that lucky duck Hayleigh.") :)
YIKES those numbers are scary. Have you guys considered the pump?? Syd just loves it, even though she HATES getting it injected. My niece also has diabetes, and her numbers seem to flip flop...from what my brother has said, they get some pretty nasty looks from the endo as well!
Hayleigh and build a bear sounds a lot like Sydnie and libby lu. or Sydnie and toys'r'us. or Sydnie and barnes and nobles...or Sydnie and the mall. Or Sydnie and any store ever that sells toys, books, clothes, or food, lol.

Hi Kris. I am so happy that Hayleigh is home, I just wish that the ER could have been more helpful. I bet the whole experience was frustrating and who would have known that two doctors would refuse a chest x-ray. I hope that Hayleigh starts feeling better and if not, I hope her Cardiologist can offer you the support you need. Keep hounding for a chest x-ray ... you are her mother and know her best!

Kris, you are an excellent mom. Managing diabetes is hard and you are doing a great job. My mom struggles with high A1C levels also and her Endo gives her looks of death. Hi - i was interested in reading your story. My son also has hht and his story sounds very simular. We first discovered his disease when he was 7. His O2 were in the 70's and doctors were also looking a C.P. and other lung related conditions. He has had two heart catherizations and now has 20 coils. His doctors at Oakland Children's also do not see these cases. Next week we will be going in for his 6 month check. He currently has several areas that they would like to coil that we are watching. My son is doing well but he has had to have limitation on activities which has been very hard on him. Thanks for sharing your story. I pray that your daughter will do well and that her story will help others. please let me know if we can do anything for you. thank you

Thank you so much for this site, and for sharing Hayleigh's story. I'm a frustrated mother of a 4 month old son who MIGHT have HHT. If he does have it, it had to have come from his father who was known to have had it. Unfortunately, my husband can't be tested, because he was killed in an accident while I was still pregnant. I'm getting no cooperation from his family, and according to the geneticist that I've taken my son to, the only way to determine if my son has it is to test a family member known to have it. Anyway, I'm hoping someone reading this can answer a question for me. My son has all kinds of problems digesting formula. Not food, just formula. Has anyone with a child with HHT have this problem? Hi Sweetie! I hope you have been feeling well. Do you know what happened one year at our house?? Our daughter lost her tooth and was so upset that the toothfairy didn't come. So she left her tooth in the glass of water and waited for the Fairy to come back the next night,which just happened to be Christmas Eve. Sure enough, on Christmas morning, her money was under the tree with a note the Tooth Fairy wrote. She apologized for not coming the night before. She said it was so cold in North Dakota that night, she was afraid her wings were going to freeze. So she waited until the next night and caught a ride on Santa's sleigh!! Can you believe that??!
