Welcome to Elizabeth's Web Page. It has been provided to keep friends and family updated about Elizabeth's battle with Leukemia (ALL).

Elizabeth was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on November 30, 2001. She finished her 2 1/2 years of chemo on June 1, 2004. Please keep her in your thoughts & prayers that she will remain in remission forever.

Did you know that...

Each day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer in the US.

ONE in every 330 American children develop cancer before the age of 20.

Each year in the U.S. over 12,600 children will be diagnosed with cancer.

Childhood cancer is the #1 disease killer of American children - more than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis, AIDS and muscular dystrophy combined!

80% of children have metastatic disease at time of diagnosis as compared to only 20% of adults.

Treatment of childhood cancer is intense and typically involves:
Surgery - Radiation - Chemotherapy

There are currently more than 270,000 childhood cancer survivors in the US.

Late effects of childhood cancer treatment are common in survivors, and approximately one-third are moderate to severe.
-Nuro-cognitive deficits (often loss of 10-50 IQ points)
-Heart failure
-Pulmonary fibrosis
-Treatment-induced secondary cancers
-Cataracts
-Hearing loss
-Endocrine abnormalities
-Loss of health care coverage (pre-existing condition when they reach adulthood)

Although cure rates are steadily increasing, 35% of children will die

Please support childhood cancer reasearch

Hey guys,

I am so excited about school starting. I am so excited I just can't describe it in words. Mom and I were making jokes about how I love school all the way through the whole year, but when about the first week of school is over, Rachel and Cort have had it for the year. Just about everyday I come home from school I walk in the door, change my clothes, and do my homework without being told. Cort and Rachel are the exact opposite. I have always been different from all of my friends because I always have liked school and I beg the teacher to give us more homework. You just don't get that from many kids these days, but I say if you are like that you are smart and special. I know I am talking a lot about school, but i am so excited. We have finally finished school shopping. Rachel is sticking with the animal stuff. I am sticking with Hannah Montana. i have to hurry because i am about to go to bed. My mom and I are breeding poodles, and she has a web site. The web page is www.johnsonspamperedpoodles.com It has to be typed exactly like it is or it will not find it. I have to go. I will update latter.

Hugs,
Elizabeth
